Storms clear by noon, then a cooler, drier week at the lake with a small weekend rain chance
The cold front that rolled a line of thunderstorms across the Hill Country overnight is moving out. Lingering showers could hang around through the first part of Tuesday, but the whole front is expected to be past Central Texas by about noon, with clouds giving way to sunshine and a brief burst of breezy north winds behind it.
The bigger change shows up tonight. Lows around Lake Travis are expected to drop into the upper 40s and low 50s, a big shift from the muggy 60s of the past few mornings. Wednesday looks like the pick of the week, with high pressure bringing lots of sun, light north winds and highs in the mid-70s.
Moisture returns from the Gulf on Thursday, with more clouds and humidity and about a 20% rain chance. Forecasters are also watching a low-pressure trough over northern Mexico that could bring scattered showers Saturday if it tracks far enough north, followed by another small cool-down for the first full weekend of November. If you're planning a lake day, Wednesday and Sunday currently look like the safest bets.
