Early voting ends with 426,000 Travis County ballots; Election Day polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday
Early voting for the Nov. 3 midterm wrapped up Friday night, and Travis County voters turned out in big numbers. More than 426,000 ballots were cast in the county during the early voting period, CBS Austin reports, about 100,000 more than the roughly 311,000 early votes in the 2022 midterm. Statewide, more than 6.8 million Texans voted early.
Friday was the busiest day of the whole early voting stretch, with some Austin-area voters reporting waits of around an hour and a half before polls closed at 10 p.m. A Rice University political scientist told the station he expects about a quarter of all ballots to be cast on Election Day itself.
If you haven't voted yet, Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Travis County uses countywide voting, so registered voters can cast a ballot at any site showing the "Vote Here/Aqui" sign. Close to the lake, the City of Lakeway lists the Lakeway Activity Center at 105 Cross Creek as an Election Day site. Check the Travis County Clerk's election website for the full list of locations and wait times, and bring an accepted photo ID.
