Lake Travis beats Round Rock 31-14 to clinch a home playoff game
Lake Travis bounced back from last week's rivalry loss to Westlake with a 31-14 win at Round Rock on Friday night. The Cavaliers wrapped up the top Division I playoff seed out of District 25-6A, which means a home playoff game when the state playoffs start in two weeks.
Quarterback Jason Carter accounted for four touchdowns, two passing and two rushing. Round Rock led 7-3 early before Carter broke a 38-yard scoring run. He then led an 87-yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass to Teddy Lofgren, and after a Dylan Rennell interception he found Gray Garrick for a 39-yard score late in the second quarter. Carter's 1-yard run on the opening drive of the second half made it 31-7, and Lake Travis scored 28 straight points. Carter finished 21 of 30 for 207 yards with no interceptions and ran for 50 more.
The defense intercepted Dragons quarterback Dov Stickler three times, with picks from Jeremiah Strong, Carter Lofton and Rennell, and held him to 49 passing yards. Harrison Walters added a 39-yard field goal. The Cavaliers are now 4-3-1 overall and 3-2 in district. Because of the Cavalier Stadium renovation, they started the season with four road games, so the playoff date gives them a fourth home game this fall.
