Rain chances peak Thursday and Friday, then the lake dries out for Halloween weekend
Rain chances climb over the next couple of days as tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Vance streams north into Texas, KXAN reports. Today stays humid with highs in the low 80s and a few scattered showers, mostly east of I-35.
Thursday is the day to watch in the Hill Country, where storms and heavier rain are most likely. On Friday the rain shifts east with periodic downpours. Most of the area should see less than an inch, though the wettest spots could pick up as much as 3 inches. The Weather Prediction Center has a Level 1 of 4 flood threat over the Hill Country on Thursday, spreading east on Friday, and clouds and rain will hold highs in the 70s.
The good news for Halloween: drier weather moves in for the weekend. A few showers could linger early Saturday before skies clear by evening, and Sunday looks warmer and sunnier. If you're boating or crossing low-water roads Thursday or Friday, keep an eye on the forecast.
