Westlake pulls away from Lake Travis 38-17 in Friday's rivalry game at Cavalier Stadium
The Cavaliers struck first Friday night, but Westlake answered with three straight touchdowns and never looked back, beating Lake Travis 38-17 in front of the home crowd at the renovated Cavalier Stadium.
Turnovers hurt. A forced fumble set up a Westlake score early in the second quarter, and another loose ball in the third turned into a 21-yard touchdown for Chaps running back Chase Brodhead, who finished with two scores. Lake Travis got a 22-yard field goal before halftime and a 4-yard touchdown run from Henry Hopping late in the fourth after a long 88-yard drive.
The win moves Westlake to 7-1 and 4-0 in District 25-6A, keeping the Chaps in the race for the district title. Lake Travis drops to 3-3-1 and 2-2 in district play with the playoff push still ahead.
