With sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s in the forecast, it's a good weekend to catch a show close to the water. Several lake-area venues have live music lined up Friday and Saturday.

Friday, Oct. 23: singer-songwriter Dakota Spellman plays folk rock and Americana at Highway 71 Brewing from 7 to 9 p.m., the blues-rock trio Howlin' Waters is at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and Spicewood's own rock and roll band The Square Grooves takes the Poodie's Roadhouse stage from 8 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 24: the duo The Caterwaulers bring their vocal harmonies to Iron Wolf Ranch and Distillery for an afternoon set from 2 to 5 p.m., and Bayou Dawgs close out the night at Poodie's from 8 to 10 p.m. with '60s and '70s rock and blues.
