Lake Travis has a new barbecue option. Good BBQ Company, which got its start as a food trailer on East 12th Street in Austin, is now open at its second location inside Lake Travis Biergarten on RM 620 near Hudson Bend.
The business was founded by U.S. Army veteran Daniel Monplaisir, and the lake location follows a spring and summer of hiring and permitting. Like the original, it's an order-at-the-window trailer setup with picnic-table seating on the Biergarten grounds.
The menu mixes Central Texas barbecue with Southern influences, including brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and sausage, plus sides such as bacon mac and cheese, creamed corn, cole slaw and baked beans. Brisket is also sold by the pound for anyone feeding a lake-house crowd, and there's a family-size spread with all the meats and sides. The Lake Travis spot keeps its own hours separate from the East Austin trailer.
