Halloween on Lake Travis is getting a floating twist. Drift or Treat, a free community event from Adventure = LIFE, takes over Party Cove (Devil's Cove) on the north shore near Jonestown and Starnes Island on Saturday, Oct. 31. It's boat-in only, so bring your own boat or catch a ride with a friend who has one.
Organizers plan to tie a row of their large Drift paddleboards together between boats to create a floating "street" that guests can walk, lounge on and trick-or-treat across. Kids hop from boat to boat collecting candy and passport stamps, and boaters are welcome to raft up and serve as treat stops. The afternoon also includes costume runways for kids at 1 p.m., dogs at 2 p.m. and adults at 3 p.m., with the crowd voting by boat horn, plus on-the-water games, karaoke from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and a giveaway drawing at 5 p.m.
The day wraps up with a glow party at sundown featuring a DJ and glow sticks on the water. Entry is free with an RSVP on the event page. Life jackets are required for kids at all times and for anyone on the Drifts, dogs should wear one too, and there's no swimming after dark.
