West Travis County PUA eases to Stage 2 watering rules, still one day a week
Homeowners served by the West Travis County Public Utility Agency, which covers much of the Bee Cave, Lakeway and Hwy. 71 corridor, have a little more room with their sprinklers. The utility stepped down from Stage 3 to Stage 2 watering restrictions effective Thursday, Oct. 15.
Lawn and landscape irrigation is still limited to one day a week, but customers now get two watering windows on their assigned day: 6 to 10 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. The days themselves haven't changed. Residential addresses ending in 1 or 3 water on Monday, 2 or 4 on Tuesday, 5 or 7 on Wednesday, 6 or 8 on Thursday, and 9 or 0 on Friday. Commercial properties and large landscapes such as HOA common areas water on Saturday, and Sunday has no scheduled outdoor watering.
The PUA is still asking customers to conserve, noting that cooler fall weather means lawns need less water. Its suggestions include trimming sprinkler run times, checking soil moisture before watering, skipping winter overseeding, mulching beds and fixing leaky sprinkler heads.
