The Battle of the Lakes is back this Friday, Oct. 23, and for the first time it will be played in Lake Travis' renovated Cavalier Stadium in Lakeway. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the rebuilt stadium, which added roughly 4,000 seats, is expected to be packed.

Westlake (6-1, 3-0 in district) comes in rolling after a 70-6 homecoming win over McNeil, while the Cavaliers (3-2-1, 2-1) bounced back from a one-point loss to Cedar Ridge with a 47-0 shutout of Stony Point. With Westlake and Cedar Ridge both unbeaten in district play, a Lake Travis win would pull the Cavaliers level with the Chaps in the loss column, while a second district loss would make a top seed much harder to reach.

Lake Travis won last year's meeting 31-10 at Chaparral Stadium, snapping a six-game Westlake winning streak in the series. The preview gives Westlake the edge this time, pointing to the Chaps' takeaway-heavy defense and balanced offense, and says the Cavaliers will need a clean turnover margin, solid protection for quarterback Jason Carter and a few big plays to pull off the win at home.
