Warm Thursday and a breezy Friday, then weekend showers return to Lake Travis
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Thursday warms into the low 80s with light wind after a cool start in the upper 40s across the Hill Country. A weak front slides through overnight, and Friday brings blustery north winds of 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, with highs in the upper 60s west of Austin and mid-70s in town.
The weekend looks pleasant but damp. A stronger storm system moving in from the Rockies could bring scattered showers and a few thunderstorms starting around midday Saturday. Some forecast models clear the rain out by Sunday, while others keep it around Saturday night into Monday. The National Weather Service puts rain chances at about 70% Saturday night and 60% Sunday, with Sunday's high only in the upper 60s.
If you're heading out on the water, Friday's gusts are the main thing to watch, and keep an umbrella and a backup plan handy for Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
