Title: Lakeway City Council approves $225,000 for TexARTS

Lakeway City Council approved $225,000 in grants for TexARTS, the city’s nonprofit theater and academy. The money comes from hotel occupancy tax, which Texas law limits to uses that promote tourism and the arts. TexARTS’ FY2026 request split the $225,000 between marketing and production: advertising, digital outreach, audience development, and tourism promotion on one side; professional production costs, artistic personnel, and performance operations on the other. The group has used HOT funds for years to advertise shows that draw visitors into Lakeway restaurants and hotels.
TexARTS has been in Lakeway more than 20 years and now operates a permanent theater and academy at 1110 S. RM 620. City packets from the Sept. 21, 2026, council meeting also show follow-up on an earlier $1.5 million city grant used during the move into that building. TexARTS reported those dollars went to personnel, theater equipment, royalties, sets, and rentals.
