Leander City Council has approved its $22.1 million share of the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) fiscal year 2026-27 budget. The BCRUA is a regional partnership of Leander, Cedar Park, and Round Rock that supplies drinking water drawn primarily from Lake Travis. The overall BCRUA budget totals roughly $41.2 million; the board approved it on June 24, after which each partner city must give its own approval. Cedar Park had already approved its approximately $7.2 million contribution earlier.

Roughly $7.8 million of the total covers the operating budget for routine expenses such as maintenance, treatment chemicals, and employee pay (an 8.8% increase over the prior year). The majority funds debt service tied to capital projects, including the deep-water intake, pipelines, and water treatment plant work.
