Lake Travis Fishing Report - December 20205,357 Readers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Water Level: 659.54 ft Water Temp: 63.5 degrees Steadily dropping water temperatures have sent most bass into their Wintering holes. This time of year most of my time is being spent on the main lake targeting bass holding on points and ledges and fishing deep and slow. There are two baits that I always have on my deck for deep water winter fishing; a Jig and a Carolina Rig. Green pumpkin is my favorite jig color on Lake Travis due to how clear the water is but I also throw black and blue on occasion. My jig trailer selection varies from a “Strike King Rage Craw” which imparts a lot of action to a “Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver” which imparts very little action. It all depends on what kind of mood the fish are in that day. Carolina Rigged Flukes, Brush Hogs, and Lizards in the same colors slowly crawled along the bottom are all producing right now. Unless you hit an active feeding window, be prepared for a slow bite, especially after a cold front. While catch rates are down this time of year, average fish size is up. Historically, this is the time of year when I catch my biggest bass of the year. Guided Fishing Trips If you’re looking to get in on this winter action, please give me a call at 915-217-5263 or email me at raytomasits@yahoo.com. I still have some availability for December and January and am starting to accept bookings for the spring. I also offer gift certificates for those who would like to purchase a trip for a friend or loved one for Christmas. My gift certificates are good for one year, so you’ll have plenty of time to schedule your trip. Tight Lines!
