The National Weather Service has issued the watch for portions of the Hill Country, I-35 Corridor, southern Edwards Plateau, and Rio Grande Plains. Heavy rainfall of 2-6 inches is expected across much of the region, with isolated spots possibly seeing up to 10 inches, which could cause rivers, creeks, and low-water crossings to swell and lead to street flooding.
In response to the widespread threat, Governor Greg Abbott has activated state emergency resources, including rescue boats and Black Hawk helicopters. Officials urge Texans to monitor local forecasts, heed warnings from authorities, and remember “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” Residents in the Austin area can sign up for emergency alerts at WarnCentralTexas.org.
