Central Texans are wrapping up the July Fourth holiday weekend with another day of stifling heat and high humidity on Sunday. Temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 90s, with dew points in the 70s pushing heat index values well into the 100s. Morning lows started in the upper 70s in Austin under light clouds, warming quickly under south-southeast winds. Residents spending time outdoors are advised to stay hydrated.
A weak weather boundary moving south is expected to bring a chance of overnight storms late Sunday into early Monday, with the highest potential for heavy downpours in the Hill Country. Scattered showers and storms may develop Monday afternoon, though rainfall totals will likely average around a quarter inch. Rain chances will taper off by midweek, with the area returning to a hot, humid summer pattern featuring afternoon highs consistently near 100 degrees.
