A new global academy is set to bring an innovative approach to education for middle and high school students in the Lakeway/Bee Cave area. TECx Global Academy, an International Baccalaureate school in the Lake Travis-Westlake region, plans to launch in September with a fresh model designed for the 21st century. Founder Alex Greystoke, an educator with over 30 years of experience who has opened schools in Europe and the U.S., was motivated by observing that traditional schooling has changed little in decades despite rapid global shifts.

Greystoke aims to address modern challenges like technological, environmental, societal, and biological pressures on students, which contribute to rising issues such as childhood obesity, depression, and truancy. The academy will prioritize students' physical, mental, and emotional well-being alongside academics, requiring all students to learn coding, develop video games, and create their own products or services in an incubator lab. It will operate on a tuition-only funding model without fundraising, starting in a temporary Lakeway/Bee Cave location while a permanent facility is developed.
