Westlake will play Euless Trinity High School Trojans at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Class 5A Division I title.

The game could mark Westlake's first state championship in more than a decade. The last time the team won a state title was in 1996.

Friday night, the community came out in full force to get the team revved up at a pep rally, which included painting cars with Chaparral Pride.

"The community, the team spirit, the families, they all come together and support this team like no team I've ever seen," John Jackson, who has a son playing football for Westlake, said.

The fans at the pep rally were all hoping for, and even expecting the same fate.

"I think we have a really good chance of winning with our new coaching staff," cheerleader Carly Jones said. "We have some really talented players, so hopefully we win."

The community also came out early Saturday morning to give the team a big send-off before hitting the road for San Antonio.

News 8 Sports will have a live wrap on the game Saturday night at 7:21.

Also on Saturday, the Lake Travis High School Cavaliers will play Longview High School Lobos at 6 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco. The Cavaliers have won 45 games in a row, and a win Saturday would give them three-straight Class 4A Division I title.

News 8's Sports will be live from Waco before and after the game.
