Carl Muennink and Robert Lesko begin their days before the sun comes up, preparing for another day clearing debris, trash and swept away docks.

The two work for a company called Dependable Docks. After devastating floods in Central Texas over the weekend, they’ve spent the past several days on Lake Travis, trying to clear all the gunk out.

“It was kind of a shock to see just how destroyed everything was and how much the water had come up,” Lesko said.

Muennink, also in awe, began documenting their cleanup journey on social media.

He captured sunken docks, and showed the broad landscape of just how much debris is in the water. Muennink and Lesko said they’re among other companies on the lake working tirelessly.

The pair said they have over 200 docks they’re working to restore, as they help clear out debris.

“There’s a lot of party boat rentals, a lot of swimmers, a lot of kayakers, a whole bunch of activity on the lake,” Muennink said. “And we don’t want anything floating out there that no one saw or caught, so we’re just being really thorough and trying to find everything that’s not supposed to be in the water.”

In the thick of their thoroughness, are continued recovery efforts.

“We’ve been seeing emergency personnel out there, you know, extracting some bodies,” Muennink said.

Law Enforcement has also been surveying the area too, as gates to docks remain closed.
