Friday, a janitor reported seeing an armed man in a boy's bathroom at the middle school.

Both the schools were locked down while law enforcement was called in, and no one was allowed in or out while they searched for the man.

Monday, school officials emphasized that their campuses are safe. They said the employee's report and the lockdown are still under investigation, but as of right now they don't have any evidence to support the janitor's claim.

"Surveillance video and conversations and interviews with other school staff point currently, right now that there is nothing to verify her claim of what she saw or allegedly saw on Friday," Lake Travis ISD’s Director of Communications Marco Alvarado said.

Some parents were frustrated during the lock down with the lack of information coming from the school.

School officials say it took time to make sure the schools were secure.

"With respect to communication with parents we can always be faster,” Lake Travis ISD Deputy Superintendent Susan Bohn said. “Our first priority is always the safety of our students and staff. So that has to be established first before we can start the communication process, including with y'all as well."

The employee who reported seeing the armed man has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the claims are investigated.
