A fire consumed a two-story house in Point Venture on Sunday night, leaving the structure a total loss and fire crews on site all night to tamp out any sparks.

"A little after 6 p.m., we got a call from dispatch about a structure fire," said North Lake Travis ESC Fire Chief Raymond Tennison. "First, when we arrived, it was completely engulfed, flames through the roof. We started to do a defensive fire to protect structures to the right and left, and called for additional fire departments."

Fire officials initially worried that an elderly couple that lived at the address might be inside, but they are safe and were accounted for as the various fire departments fought the fire. Tennison said firefighters eventually learned that the couple had been at church on Sunday night.

North Lake Travis Emergency Services District has requested the assistance of Cedar Park and Leander fire departments in fighting the blaze in the 18000 block of Lakeland Drive. Chief Raymond Tennison, who was on scene, said the fire was far from contained, the fire department had requested assistance and that the department was having some difficulty drawing water to fight the fire.

Neighbors told Tennison that an elderly couple lived in the home. A car was missing from the residence, but it had yet to confirm the location of the homeowners.
