Lake Travis volleyball reaches state

Lake Travis kept its goal of winning state for the second straight year alive on Saturday by defeating Cedar Park 25-12, 25-17, 25-20 in the regional championship game at Paul Taylor Field House.

The Cavaliers will defend their Class 4A state championship when the UIL Tournament convenes next week in San Marcos.

Lake Travis (48-0) was led by University of Texas-bound outside hitter Amy Neal pounded 11 kills to pace the Cavalier offense. Katie Beals had 19 assists and 8 digs. Teammates Cassie Wang and Mackenzie Mayo contributed 8 digs apiece and Kaci Eaton had 5 blocks.

This marked the fourth time this year Lake Travis has beaten Cedar Park. The Timberwolves (35-17) were led by outside hitter Hailey Roberts (12 kills) and libero Tara Vanderpool (11 digs).

Lake Travis won the 4A state title last year with a 46-3 record.
