Store parking lots are jammed as last minute holiday shoppers make a mad dash to get everyone on their list a gift.

"We actually enjoy coming out the day before Christmas and just seeing all the craziness and it is a lot of fun and just trying to be the last one to get the last item and we missed out on a couple of things we really wanted to get," explained Patti McClain who hit up Toys R Us with her daughter Kathryn Wood

McClain wasn't the only one hitting up the toy store which is open 24 hours.

Many shoppers were walking out with baskets full of toys, games and even children's bicycles.

"It is crazy in there," McClain told KXAN.

For some shoppers this isn't their first time fighting the crowds or looking for that last parking spot in the lot.

"I've probably been shopping probably twelve times," said Andrea Vick while holding her infant daughter Avery. "Yeah, because I am working and so I will just do it in between work and coming home."

Vick said she is done shopping and now will head home to tackle wrapping.

"Santa's first stop is at our house so we have to be ready," Vick said.

"I now have to go wrap all that and yes, that is the hard part," McClain said pointing to the mound of toys in the truck of her Suburban.

McClain and Vick aren't the only ones with work ahead.

"I am going home and getting sleep," said Jonathan Gomez, a shopper who hit up Target for wrapping paper.

Many retailers said they've noticed a lot more spending this season compared to the past two years of recession.

Data shows it has also been a record year for online sales.
