Austin has already logged 11 triple-digit days this summer at Camp Mabry, and the heat is far from finished. Sunday is forecast to reach 99 degrees under sunny skies, but high humidity from Gulf moisture will push the heat index near 107. Overnight lows will only dip to about 77. A subtropical ridge of high pressure over the Southwest, combined with another high over the Gulf, is keeping the region stuck in a hot, moist, and largely rain-free pattern, with little chance of meaningful rainfall near Austin in the near term.
Monday looks similar—mostly sunny and peaking at 98 degrees—before temperatures climb again midweek. Tuesday is expected to hit 100, Wednesday 101, and Thursday 102, all under mostly sunny skies with light southerly winds. The upper ridge will slowly shift southeast, ending any residual rain chances by Tuesday while allowing temperatures to keep rising. Humidity will remain elevated, especially east of I-35, where heat advisories are possible.
