Last week's rain brought Lake Travis to its highest level since July.

As of Sunday morning, the lake was at 642.39 feet.

It dropped to below 640 feet in mid-July.

In spite of all the rain, Lake Travis water levels are still very low.

The lake is well below its monthly average of more than 666 feet. The Lower Colorado River Authority said the lake is about 24 feet below average for this time of year.

However, levels are continuing to rise. The LCRA expects Lake Travis to gain about 1 foot by Wednesday from all the runoff.

Sometimes Island is still visible in Lake Travis. When the water level is back to normal, the island will disappear from sight.

In Waco, they are having a different problem.

Some parks are closed down after heavy rains caused flooding in Lake Waco. More closures are expected if the area gets more rain in the next few days.

The Army Corps of Engineer's Web site says water levels are above normal.

Hunters may also want to check the Web site before heading out. All but one hunting access point are closed down.
