A cold front moving east across Texas brought more than 2 inches of rain Monday to regions of Burnet and Llano counties, according to weather officials.

“It’s a small step, but every little bit helps,” said Bob Rose, chief meteorologist at the Lower Colorado River Authority. As the front moved southeast in the afternoon, skies opened up in parts of the region, Rose said.

Almost 3 inches of rain fell in Bertram (2.84) and Marble Falls (2.69) from late Sunday night through Monday. Two-plus inches also fell in Llano (2.0) and Burnet (2.04).

Remnants of Tropical Storm Rick brought as much as 9 inches of rain to the Highland Lakes area last week.

The lake level in Buchanan rose to 993.12 feet above mean sea level, three feet higher than September’s level of 990.10 ft. msl.

The level in Lake Travis rose to 643,45 ft. msl., about thirteen feet higher than last month’s total of 630.57 ft. msl.

Lake Buchanan has a capacity of 1020 ft. msl. Lake Travis maximizes at 681 ft. msl.

The rain and readings came as the LCRA suggested new contracts for water service may be temporarily suspended.
