Though Abilene did not receive any rain after midnight Sunday, San Angelo picked up another .24 inches between midnight and 10 a.m. Monday.

Michel Lacy, meteorologist at the San Angelo Weather Forecast Office, said the normal rainfall for the year in San Angelo is 18.9 inches. To date, San Angelo has received 23.61 inches.

Abilene, on the other hand is running slightly behind normal, having received 19.45 inches of rain for the year. The normal is 20.75 inches.

“In general, West Texas is doing really well on rainfall for the year,” Lacy said. “It is still the south-central part of Texas that is hurting.”

Joel Dunn, meteorologist intern at the station, said Lake Travis in Central Texas is down about 40 feet.

He also said the forecast indicates the San Angelo area is in for similar type weather with more rain after midnight Wednesday brought on by a cold front.

East Texas is experiencing mild to severe flooding as a result of rains that fell over the weekend. The line of thundershowers moving south and east from Jacksboro and Brownwood became more severe to the east.
