Lake Travis on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 - KXAN

Lake Travis climbed above its highest 2010 level Wednesday, and now contains more water than it has since February 2008.

Lake Travis was last full in the spring of 2010, but the elevation topped out at 682.10 feet above sea level that year. Recent rains have filled the lake to 102% “full,” and it was still rising from an elevation of 682.14 feet Wednesday evening.

Lake Travis has risen about a foot in the past week. While the lake is more than a foot into the flood pool, no flood gate operations are being considered at this time. The LCRA says Lake Travis could reach 683 feet in the next week, with the possibility that additional rain could push it higher.

Current Lake Levels

Lake Buchanan is also at its highest elevation in eight years. It has risen about a foot in the last week, and is at 1017.29 feet above sea level, the highest since June, 2008. The lake is 93% “full.” The lake is forecast to reach 1018 feet over the next week, just two feet from its full level.

The percentages of the “full” levels are determined by the volume of water in the lakes, not their elevations.
