An Austin man drowned at a local park today.

It's the second drowning on Lake Travis this summer. It happened at the Bob Wentz park off Comanche Trail near the Oasis at Lake Travis Restraurant. Recovery Dive Teams are still in the water searching for his body.

Travis county officials say a 24 year old man slipped under the water and never came back up. A 9-1-1 call reported the accident around 4:30 this afternoon. It happened about 20-to-30 yards from shore. Investigators believe the depth in that area is about 12-30 feet-deep and they say there's a drop off where he might have gone under. The victim was swimming with a friend at the time and witnesses say the drowning happened fast and without warning.

Travis County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Roger Wade says, "a lot of people think there's a loud commotion, scream and churn up the water when they go under and it's just not the case.” Wade also says, “That’s why it's very important for folks to watch very closely.”

The man's identity has not yet been released. Officials say they're still waiting to notify the family.
