The Austin-area high school football scene is buzzing with talent as the 2025 season kicks off, and running backs Jett Walker, Trae Hill, and Keilan Chavies are among the standout performers to watch.

Jett Walker, a junior at Georgetown, has already made waves with an impressive 2,351 yards and 37 touchdowns last season, earning a commitment to West Virginia and drawing attention from major programs like Texas and UTSA. His size (6-foot-2, 212 pounds) and speed (4.55 seconds in the 40-yard dash) make him a dominant force, as seen in his 404-yard, five-touchdown performance against Glenn, helping Georgetown secure a district title.

Similarly, Cedar Park’s Trae Hill, despite an injury-shortened 2024 season, showcased his game-changing ability with 609 yards and 10 touchdowns in just six games, and his potential return for the playoffs could elevate the Timberwolves’ postseason run.

Hutto’s Keilan Chavies, a senior committed to Tulsa, is another dynamic talent, having rushed for 789 yards and seven touchdowns last year while earning 14 Power 4 offers. His explosive playstyle positions him for a breakout season, potentially surpassing 1,000 yards.

These three athletes, part of a deep pool of Central Texas running backs, are set to drive their teams’ offenses. As the season unfolds, their performances will be key in shaping the competitive Austin-area football landscape.
