A slow-moving cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to Central Texas on Friday, with a 30% chance of storms and potential for locally heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding. Austin is expected to see near triple-digit temperatures, with heat index values between 104 and 108, prompting heat safety recommendations such as staying hydrated, wearing sunscreen, and avoiding leaving children or pets in parked cars. The risk of heavy rainfall continues through the weekend, with a 50% to 60% chance of over an inch of rain in Austin and the Hill Country, and a 10% chance of more than 3 inches in some areas.

For University of Texas fans traveling to Columbus, Ohio, for the Longhorns' football game against Ohio State on Saturday, the weather will be much more favorable. A cold front moving through the Ohio Valley will usher in fall-like conditions, with morning temperatures around 50 degrees and afternoon highs in the mid-70s under sunny skies and light northeast winds, providing ideal conditions for the game.
