A flood watch is in effect for the Austin area and the Hill Country from noon Sunday to noon Monday, as a slow-moving cold front interacts with Gulf moisture, bringing significant rainfall and potential thunderstorms. The National Weather Service predicts 2-4 inches of rain across the region, with some areas possibly seeing up to 8 inches, raising concerns about flooding, particularly in flood-prone areas near rivers and creeks.

In Austin, rainfall is expected to range from three-quarters to an inch on Sunday, with an 80% chance of rain between 1-7 p.m., followed by a 60% chance of an additional half-inch from Sunday night into Monday. Residents are advised to stay alert for possible flood warnings and be prepared to move to higher ground if necessary. Low water crossings may be closed, and their status can be checked at ATXFloods.com.
