Several of the top high school football players in Central Texas will participate in Max Emfinger's All-American Bowl Game Classic on Saturday at the Round Rock ISD Sports Complex.
Among the seniors expected to play are linebacker John Bordano of New Braunfels, Bowie wide receiver DeAndre Perry, Lago Vista running back Jason Cormier, Round Rock running back James McKinney and LBJ running back and safety Cameron Brown.
Emfinger, a longtime recruiting analyst from Baton Rouge, La., said he has assembled about 80 players from across the country to play in the fifth annual all-star game. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday.
Three players from the three-time defending state champion Lake Travis Cavaliers have been invited to participate — flex back Andy Erickson, defensive end Trevor Gillette and safety Hunter Akers. Austin High will be represented by defensive tackle Darrell Green, quarterback Jacob Morgan, cornerback Delenta Burleson, cornerback Dadrian Record and receiver Thomas Coffman. Beside Brown, LBJ's representatives will be cornerback Elijah Cash, safety Aldon Hyder, defensive tackle Cedric Howard and cornerback Steven Cannon.
Others players expected to participate include Abilene offensive lineman Drew Carroll and Midland High wide receiver Antwan Goodley. Utah's prep player of the year, Tuni Kanuch, a guard from Salt Lake City, also will play, Emfinger said.
The game will be played on the same day as the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, a high-profile prep all-star game in San Antonio.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will kick off at noon at the Alamodome. It will be televised on NBC.
