The University of Texas at Austin confirmed Thursday that a staff member died over the weekend due to H1N1.
UT did not release the name of the staff member, but said the person was hospitalized before passing away.
"It has been confirmed that this employee had underlying health problems," UT said in a written statement. "The university has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this valued staff member."
The university asks for those with severe symptoms to contact their health provider. UT said it will also open seasonal flu shot clinics next week. University Health Services will also offer the Novel H1N1 Virus Vaccine, once it is available for adults.
