Investigators were searching Wednesday night for the pilot of a small plane that crashed into Inks Lake.
Lynn Lunsford, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman, said that shortly after the crash, witnesses reported seeing a person briefly come to the surface before going back under the water.
It appeared that the pilot was the only person aboard the plane, Lunsford said. The crash was reported about 1:30 p.m.
Lunsford said the crash involved a home-built Avid Catalina that was designed to land on water. The aircraft, which was pulled to shore, is registered to a man from the Lake Buchanan area, according to FAA records.
