Several acres in the Hurst Creek area near Lake Travis burned Wednesday afternoon. Dale Faust with the Lake Travis Fire Department says a resident's controlled burn spread and threatened six to eight homes. He says firefighters were able to protect them.
"We could see it from our deck. We live across the cove from it. We could see flames shooting above the trees when it started. Starflight showed up and started getting water from the lake and dropping it on the fire," Vicki Volick said when she emailed keyetv.com with the picture to the right.
In addition to five engines and five brush trucks, the Starflight helicopter made 14 water drops on the fire.
No one was hurt. A total of two acres were burned.
