photo by Jay JannerThis war between satellite giant DirecTV and the Versus network is turning ugly.
What? Lance Armstrong can't fix this?
The satellite giant has discontinued Versus programming, which is bad news for DirecTV subscribers expecting to get several college football games this season involving Big 12, Pac-10 and Mountain West teams.
That includes today's Texas-Wyoming game, which would have been playing at my house on channel 603 before this blood feud occurred.
In a statement last week, DirecTV said Versus owner Comcast forced cancellation of viewing due to "their ridiculous demands that simply do not reflect current market valuations for their programming."
As if that weren't enough, leave it up to Time Warner Cable to get involved. I heard a Time Warner ad the other day taking a shot at DTV for not having that much-anticipated tossup between the Longhorns and Cowboys.
I guess all's fair in love and football. But a word of advice, Time Warner: until you start carrying the NFL Network across the board, DirecTV will always have the last laugh. And hopefully the Time Warner subscribers in Westlake got their money back after that ULM pay-per-view fiasco last week.
