GAME OF THE WEEK Westlake at Lake Travis, 7:30 p.m. Friday
It's been nearly two years since Lake Travis last lost a football game. On Sept. 7, 2007, Westlake defeated the visiting Cavaliers 28-21. Since that loss, Lake Travis has streaked to 31 consecutive victories — the longest active streak in the state — and a pair of Class 4A state championships.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK QB Michael Brewer
A key player in the Cavaliers' run, quarterback Garrett Gilbert, now backs up Colt McCoy at the University of Texas, but QB Michael Brewer led Lake Travis to 55 points in a season-opening victory. Westlake also opened with a win, holding Cedar Park to 14 points.
When the teams met last season on Sept. 5, Lake Travis rolled to a 38-17 victory.
