After one more day with highs in the 90s, fall weather is finally arriving in the Lake Travis area. FOX 7 Austin meteorologist Zack Shields says the season's first strong cold front will move in overnight Thursday into Friday.

A few scattered showers are possible between midnight and sunrise Friday, but rain totals should stay under half an inch and no widespread heavy rain or strong storms are expected. The showers should clear out by sunrise.

Behind the front, north winds with gusts of 30 to 40 mph combined with low humidity will push fire danger to high or extreme levels. The forecast advises against outdoor burning Friday and recommends staying off the lakes because the water will be choppy.

Highs will fall from the 90s into the 60s on Friday and Saturday, and overnight lows are expected to drop into the 40s. The cooler weather should last several days, so it's a good time to bring out the jackets for weekend outings around the lake.
