Travis County is asking residents to help plan two parks near Lake Travis: Reimers Ranch, already open for hiking and climbing, and the new RGK Ranch Park, a 1,500-acre property that is not open yet. The county bought the land from the Kozmetsky family for $90 million with a 2023 voter-approved bond. Precinct 3 Commissioner Ann Howard said the purchase is meant to connect Reimers and RGK. The link is not finished, but she said the county has made progress. A western Travis County meeting gathered ideas on amenities, access, and recreation.

Lakeway resident Tosha McSloy wants entries from both State Highway 71 and Hamilton Pool Road, plus trails for children and riders of different skill levels, including wood features or a skills park. Howard said the county expects to open a little over 400 more acres at Reimers and is weighing horseback riding, biking, and climbing, including cliffs along the Pedernales River. San Marcos resident Jen Dillender said she wants the hills and open views kept natural as the area grows. Surveys are open for both parks.
