Austin stays hot this week, with more triple-digit days and heat-index values above 100. Potential Tropical Cyclone Five in the northern Gulf could organize into a depression or Tropical Storm Eduard, but KXAN says that will not change the local picture much. Monday looks mostly dry with extra clouds and only a stray late shower. Spotty tropical rain is more likely Tuesday into Wednesday along and east of I-35; areas farther west should stay mainly dry. Those showers could drop a quick 0.25 to 1 inch in spots, though most places would see less than a quarter-inch.

Late week into the weekend brings only isolated afternoon showers and storms. No washout day is expected, and there is no major severe-weather or flood threat. Highs stay in the upper 90s to low 100s through the first week of September, with high heat and humidity all week.
