Central Texas remains under a Heat Advisory as very hot and dry conditions continue, with afternoon highs climbing into the low 100s under mainly sunny skies. Relatively low humidity will keep heat index values close to actual air temperatures. This marks another stretch of triple-digit heat, though for the first time in more than 30 days a real chance of showers is on the horizon later in the week.

The heat dome is expected to shift slightly westward, allowing isolated to spotty rain chances Wednesday through Friday, with the best opportunity on Thursday. Highs will still reach the low 100s during that period. The weekend closes out August with continued hot and dry weather, as temperatures hover near 100 degrees under mostly sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday.
