Paddle for Puppies is returning for its 15th year on Saturday, August 9, from 6:45 to 10 a.m. on Lady Bird Lake in Austin. Participants can paddleboard, kayak, or canoe while enjoying vendors, food trucks, a DJ, and a commemorative T-shirt, all while raising funds for Austin Pets Alive!’s Parvo ICU—one of the nation’s leading programs treating puppies with the highly contagious and often deadly parvovirus. The event, supported by Austin Subaru, aims to raise $25,000 this year; every dollar directly supports the ICU, which has treated more than 10,000 puppies since 2009 and boasts a roughly 90% save rate.
Aline Ferreira of Austin Subaru and Mady Young of Austin Pets Alive! appeared on We Are Austin with special guest Lark, a two-month-old parvovirus survivor who had just tested negative and is ready for her forever home. They emphasized that the beloved community tradition benefits puppies like Lark and reflects Austin Subaru’s long-standing partnership with Austin Pets Alive!, focused on giving back rather than self-promotion. Registration and details are available at PaddleForPuppies.com, with proceeds helping more animals receive lifesaving care and find loving homes.
