The Lower Colorado River Authority planned to keep multiple floodgates open at Tom Miller Dam through the weekend and into the following week, creating unsafe conditions on Lady Bird Lake due to fast currents, submerged debris, and elevated bacteria levels. As a result, personal and commercial watercraft, including canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and similar devices, remain prohibited on the closed sections, with the possibility of further extensions if flood operations continue.
