Heavy rainfall triggered flash flood warnings across Central Texas on Monday, causing widespread disruptions. Several roads flooded, leading to closures at more than 100 low water crossings. Barton Springs Pool was temporarily shut down after Barton Creek overflowed into it, filling the area with mud, debris, and fast-moving water. Austin-Travis County EMS and local agencies rescued at least two drivers from vehicles stranded in high water, including incidents in Manor and South Austin where motorists ignored barricades.

Officials are urging drivers to "Turn around, don’t drown" as more rain is forecast for the coming days on already saturated ground. Austin Fire Department crews noted a spike in traffic accidents, and areas like McKinney Falls State Park saw rapid rises in water levels, closing trails. Governor Greg Abbott activated emergency operations and issued a disaster declaration for affected counties amid the ongoing severe weather threat.
