Take some extra caution in your Monday morning commute. A flash flood watch is in effect for most of Central Texas until 7 a.m. Tuesday. We can expect numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Some minor flash flooding could occur, especially at low-water crossings, underpasses and flood-prone areas. For Waco, the flood watch goes until 9 p.m. Monday.

The rainfall is coming in from the northwest, sweeping through Burnet and Killeen and heading southeast. Clouds and storms should continue throughout the day. There's likely to be periods of light to moderate rain with intermittent heavy downpours. Gusty winds are possible, as is lightning.

Waco has been soaked with four inches of rain in the past 24 hours. Gauges at both Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan are showing a rise in water levels.

The rain could lead to anywhere between one to three inches of rain in Austin and the surrounding area. Some areas could see as much at five inches in the next 24 hours. The overcast skies bring with it some cooler temperatures. Highs in the upper 80s, lows in the lower 70s.
