The dreary weather that dampened holiday events in Central Texas on Saturday is set to last through the weekend, with close to an inch of rain expected in Austin today.

Rainfall will become increasingly likely throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service, with a 90 percent chance of rainfall tonight.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 60 degrees, dipping to 42 degrees are night.

Gray clouds and drizzle greeted Austin for the second morning in a row Saturday, causing a handful of cities to rethink their holiday plans.

San Marcos canceled the final night of its Christmas celebration, and Buda on Friday postponed its annual festival and parade until next weekend.

Today's tree lighting in Zilker Park is still scheduled for 6 p.m., but parking will be scant. Organizers have closed the park's polo fields, which were intended to serve as parking lots, because the slick ground created unsafe conditions, according to the city.

But the wet weather that threw a wrench in some holiday festivities hasn't yielded much rainfall.

The National Weather Service recorded one-tenth of an inch of rain at Austin Bergstrom International Airport by Saturday evening, and one-fifteenth of an inch at Camp Mabry, meteorologist Amanda Fanning said.

Not quite a drought buster.

"We'd need inches and inches of rain," Fanning said. "But beggars can't be choosers right?"
