Chilly start gives way for sunny day, freeze possible tonight

Central Texas was off to a chilly morning Monday that will give way for a sunny and mild afternoon, the National Weather Service said.


Austin remained under a freeze warning until 9 a.m., as the area reached temperatures close to 30 early this morning.


The chilly start will give way to a sunny day and a high of 64, the service said. The low tonight is slated to reach 35, the service said.


We’ll see more highs in the 60s in the coming days, along with a gradual rise in low temperatures into the 40s by Thursday night, when we see our first shot of rain this week.
