The fire in Steiner Ranch that claimed 24 homes and damaged 30 other was 75 percent contained by Wednesday, officials said.
Lake Travis Fire Chief Jim Lenardos told reporters at an afternoon briefing that he expects the fire that has been burning since Sunday to be completely contain by 5 p.m. Thursday. He did caution, however, that wind speeds were epected to accelerate, which could hamper efforts.
During the same briefing, officials said that the Spicewood fire that destroyed 34 homes was fully contain.
When officials say a fire is contained, they are referring to its ability to spread. The fire might still continue to burn within a contained area.
Lenardos said he expected reprsentatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to be in Steiner Ranch on Thursday. He also said that five injuries were caused by the Steiner Ranch fire, but none in the past 24 hours.
