Investigators found no evidence of foul play associated with the fire, Killeen police said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home just after 3:30 a.m. Friday.

The first crews found smoke and flames coming from the roof and attic of the single-story brick home.

Rescue teams entered the house and found Collins inside.

Rescuers tried to revive her at the scene and she was taken to Metroplex Hospital where Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin pronounced her dead just after 4:15 a.m. Friday.

The fire was under control within about 30 minutes, but the rear portion of the home was heavily damaged.

The cause is under investigation.

Both 40th St. and Lake Travis Avenue were closed to traffic while firefighters fought the flames early Friday.
